Description: The course is organized to provide a comprehensive experience of the support of the seriously ill patient; to provide knowledge of support of pulmonary, cardiac, hepatic, and renal function by the use of current instrumentation, techniques, and treatment algorithms. The student will have a first-hand experience in using advanced metabolic, pharmacological and nutritional support in a group of complex, tertiary surgical ICU patients. Emphasis will include the practical approach, as well as outcome parameters and cost assessment.
